- The Living Lab
As well as patients, clinicians are healthcare end-users. As healthcare providers, clinicians are key to the successful implementation of novel ICT, and change management of existing processes to more innovative approaches. Engaging clinicians at the grassroots level of ehealth ICT research, ensures that the end product is representative of end-user requirements. This engagement benefits the clinician as well as the other stakeholders, as determining requirements and use-cases at the research stage means resources are used efficiently and innovative technologies are more likely to be widely adopted.
Clinicians can provide valuable feedback on proposals and prototype before stakeholders attempt to introduce the technology widely throughout the healthcare sector. Clinicians will also be introduced to new ways of thinking about and approaching healthcare delivery, and are integral to the co-design, co-development and co-deployment of innovation in healthcare.
